Although Matt wasn’t used to shopping without his fiancé, he would have no choice this time.  With her big trip to Japan only a few weeks away, he wanted to get her a little gift of some kind.  After all, this was Nic’s first international business trip and they were both very excited about it. 

Of course, they always had great experiences shopping online so he had his laptop ready to go.  Only one dilemma remained.  What do you get for the girl who has everything?  Matt wanted to find something Nicole could use on her trip but it had to be something she would enjoy as well.  And, it would be even better if he could find something she could keep and use down the road. 

Just when the prospect seemed hopeless, it dawned on him.  She’s always accessorizing.  Everything Nicole owns has a few little “somethings” to go with it.  For instance, she could hardly shop for an outfit without buying matching shoes and jewelry.  Why should her luggage be any different?  He concluded that luggage accessories would be the perfect gift.

So Go Ahead Boyfriend Start Shopping for Her Travel Gear

She would be proud of me right now, Matt thought to himself as he eagerly browsed travel accessories. 

The first page he found featured airplane luggage tags.  He searched through all kinds of tags, determined to find luggage labels that were functional and stylish.  There was a surprisingly large selection of plastic luggage tags and even some made of genuine leather.  After only a few more seconds of deliberation, he decided to go with the leather tags.  Of course, he was most excited about the digital luggage scale he came across. 

Matt knew he would have fun teasing Nicole about packing so much for her trips.  His luggage probably weighed only half as much as hers.  And, most of her belongings were accessories (a set for every outfit).  He laughed and shook his head.  Nonetheless, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

The next thing he noticed was a page full of TSA approved luggage locks.  Since his job also required frequent travel, Matt knew the importance of luggage locks.  He felt comforted in knowing that Nicole’s belongings would be protected and the TSA agents will still have quick access to the luggage when necessary.  During his many visits to the airport, he overheard numerous complaints about TSA agents having to break locks in order to inspect luggage.  Of course, Matt hoped to prevent this as well as any other complications during the luggage screening.  Next, he had to choose between combination or pad locks and decided to order a set of bright pink Lewis N Clark pad locks. 

Nic loves pink.  These will be perfect for her, he thought.

Just when he thought the accessorizing process was complete, he scrolled past several luggage straps.  It didn’t take him long to find a comfort fit shoulder strap. 

Add to cart, he said aloud as he purchased one last luggage accessory.  Or, so he thought.

Right before he went on to click checkout, he saw a luggage cart from the corner of his eye. 

Didn’t we order rolling luggage? he wondered.  I don’t think either of us will need one of these.  Then, he remembered his parents and their old suitcases.  Matt told them time and time again that it was time to update their travel gear and get something with rollers.  Still, they refused.

Our suitcases are sentimental, his mother would say.  They’ve been all over the world with us.  He remembered that their anniversary was fast approaching.  They planned to take a trip with his brother, Lance, to Alaska.  Thus, he added one of the luggage carts to his purchase.  He was pleasantly surprised to learn that it held 135 pounds and featured stair glides, making it easy to maneuver just about anywhere.

Okay, he thought, I’m getting out of here before I buy something else! 

He looked over at the clock.  It had only been 15 minutes.  He was sure that he had never done this much shopping in such a short amount of time. 

Now, I know what Nic’s talking about when she says she is ‘power shopping’ for gifts, Matt said as he closed the laptop.  He was proud of his 15 minute shopping spree.
